How do you install or maintain a CCTV system to achieve recorded images that are fit for purpose in Nigeria? You start by asking your self the following questions:

Was the area to be viewed by each camera measured out? What is the purpose of each camera?

Was the image viewed scientifically assessed to establish correct area coverage and quality?

Were the images viewed at night and recorded images assessed?

Are these tests repeatable using documentation supplied by the installer?

In most cases the answer will be NO!

The following Images taken from CCTV systems reportedly tested during installation by the most common methods used widely in the CCTV industry, the human eye alone.

From left, 30% of the image is wasted viewing the sky. The middle image, the camera angle is set to low 60% of people entering; their faces could not be seen. The last image, the night setup is wrong, the camera was only tested during the day time.
